What is a mammogram?
It is an X-ray of the breast that a board certified radiologist can use to look for early signs of breast cancer. Annual mammograms are important as they can diagnose breast cancer up to 3 years before it can be felt.

Who should do a mammogram?

- Women who have gained a large amount of weight.
Tips for getting a mammogram
1. Avoid getting your mammogram the week before your period. Your breasts might be tender and a mammogram may be more uncomfortable during this time.
2. Avoid wearing perfume, deodorant and powders on the day you have your mammogram scheduled. These substances may be picked up by the mammogram detector and show as white spots.
3. Wear comfortable clothing on the day of your mammogram. Preferably jeans or a skirt with a top. You will need to undress your top before your mammogram.
What if I have implants?
No worries! Implants are not a problem and should not discourage you from doing your mammograms. Our team is well trained and will know exactly how to treat each individual based on their specific needs.
